Define the Problem




Defining the problem - This is the process of analyzing the problem, gathering information, and establishing criteria and constraints that will identify a specific need or want. This means being very specific when describing the problem and only focusing on one problem at a time.

Research Ideas



Researching ideas - This is a process of brainstorming multiple ideas to solve the problem. Using books, magazines, or the internet, one can research possible ideas or solutions develop by others.

Invention - The act of creating a new product, system, or process that never existed before.

Innovation - The act of changing or improving an existing product, system, or process.


Identify Solutions





Identifying Solutions - This is the process of selecting the best solutions by identifying, modifying, and / or combining ideas from a group or possible solutions.


Evaluate Solutions





Evaluating Solutions - This is the process of modeling, testing, and assessing the effectiveness of the solution.




Choose a Final Solution





Choosing the Final Solution - This is the process of altering the design, analyzing the positive and negative aspects, making improvements, and ensuring at the criteria and constraints were met.




Feedback of Results





Feedback of Results and Processes - This is the process of describing what you did, why you did it, and how it worked.
