Loads on Structures

     1.  Constant Loads
     2.  Unknown Loads
     3.  Anticipated Loads

Impacts Loads

     1.  Wind
     2.  Snow
     3.  Occupant
     4.  Thermal
     5.   Settlement
     6.   Resonant Loads (Vibrations)
     7.   Earthquake Loads

Dead Load - load that does not change. Dead loads only change if the structure is altered. This is the structure's weight.

Structural Systems - one system load on another system.

Static Load - Move or shift or change, but does it slowly or with very little structural change. (Small Impact)
i.e. furniture or people in a home.

Dynamic load - fast and significant loads.

Different causes of loads

       1.  Snow
       2.  Wind - gusts, steady winds, tornado winds, hurricane, storm winds.
       3.  Steady winds on tall structures
       4.  Impact loads - wind, water, other structure, debris, snow, thermal, settlement, resonant
